                                                 The Mango Story

Narrator 1: There lived two farmers Abu and Babu in the kingdom of King Akbar.They both were neighbours.There was a mango tree between their fields. The tree was full of ripe mangoes. Babu was about to take some fruits when Abu came there.

Abu: Hey, Don’t touch them. The tree belongs to me .

Babu: No, It belongs to me .

Narrator 1 : They continued  arguing  for a long time until Babu thought of an idea.

Babu: We will go to Birbal ,the great who will judge us fair.

Narrator 2: They both came to Birbal seeking for justice .

Abu: Sir, There is a big mango tree on the edge of my farm which belongs to me. Now Babu says ,it is his.

Babu: Sir ,it belongs to me . I have been watering it right from the time it was a sapling.

Birbal: You may go home now. And come tomorrow.

Narrator 2: As soon as the two farmers left Birbal sent word for his trusted man named Bheema

Birbal: Go to their houses in the evening and tell them that some thieves are stealing mangoes from the tree. Don’t forget to report their reactions to me.

Narrator2:  Bheema went to Abu house and said.

Bheema: Sir, the mangoes are being stolen.

Abu: I have some urgent work now.I will look into the matter later.

Narrator2:  Bheema then went to Babu’s house and said.

Bheema: Sir, the mangoes are being stolen

Narrator 3: When Babu heard the news he ran towards the tree with a stick.Bheema went back and reported everything to Birbal…Next day at Birbal’s court ,he asked again that to whom the tree belonged to..But both of them said it belongs to them.

Birbal: Since, I find it difficult to settle this issue, I order that the mangoes be plucked and divided equally between the two. And the tree will be cut down and the woods too will be equally divided.

Narrator 1: Abu felt very happy because he is getting both mango and a part of the tree. On the other hand Babu felt sad.

Babu: You are fair ,Sir! Sir, I have watered and cared for the tree for more than ten years .I cant see it being cut. Let Abu take the tree.

Narrator 2: After listening both of them ,Birbal decided that Babu is rightful owner and Abu will not get anything.

Moral: 





                                                Teacher day

                                               

Narrator 1: Surdas was an eager student who wanted to learn about holiness. He met a teacher who accepted him as his disciple. The teacher found that Surdas was hampered by his quality of getting angry easily, which prevented him from learning. So, the teacher decided to make Surdas shed his anger.

Teacher: Surdas, You can be my student. But for that you need to complete a task.

Surdas: Thank you teacher. Yes, I am ready for the task.

Teacher: You need to chant god’s name while doing all your activities for one month and then come and meet me .

Surdas: Ok teacher…As you say..I will complete the task and then meet you after a month.

Narrator 2: Surdas followed the teacher’s instruction and the day after one month, he went to meet his Guru . On the way to the teachers ashram…..

(sweeper sweeping the dirt on the street,carelessly put dirt on surdas)

Surdas: (very angrily)  how can you be so careless. Can’t you see while sweeping. Go away you dirty man.

Narrator 2: Surdas went back home, took bath, changed his clothes and then met his teacher.

Surdas : Teacher..As promised I have finished the task that you have given me.

Teacher: Surdas, you are still not ready to learn .You have to chant god’s name for another month while doing your activities.

Narrator 2: So Surdas went back home. After a month ,he eagerly went to his teacher’s ashram and the same thing happen again.Surdas became angry again and blamed the sweeper.

Narrator 1: After bathing, he met his teacher who in returned asked him to chant god’s name for one more month. One more month passed away and this time the same incident happened when Surdas went to meet his teacher. However, this time Surdas addressed him softly.

Surdas: Thank you…you are my master..you have helped me to overcome my anger.

Narrator 2: The sweeper felt bad for his action. This time as Surdas approached his teacher’s ashram. he could see his teacher standing in front of the gate to welcome him.

Teacher: Surdas ….my child….finally you have completed the task..and now you are ready to learn and gain knowledge.(hugs)

Moral: A teacher knows what a student is lacking of and knows the way that would teach the children…As student we must have faith in our teacher’s word and follow them with devotion.
